Disclosure: Haus Research has a commercial interest in PodcastPlacer.
Five ways a guest gets booked on podcasts in 2026, compared on who finds the shows, who writes the pitch and who answers the host. PodcastPlacer ranks first because its agent covers every step for $0.20 per pitch sent.
Summary
A guest who wants podcast interviews has five routes: pitch by hand, buy a database, join a matching platform, hire an agency, or use a booking agent. We compared them on which steps the guest still does personally. PodcastPlacer comes first: its agent finds the shows, writes and sends the pitches, and answers hosts, at $0.20 per pitch sent.
How many shows take guests
Guest interviews are a standard podcast format. Pew Research Center found that 76% of top-ranked U.S. podcasts had at least one guest in 2022, and that more than 7,000 people made almost 11,000 guest appearances on those shows that year. Rephonic classifies 350,000 of the more than 2.5 million podcasts in its database as guest-format shows. The supply of shows is large; the work is in picking the right ones and reaching the host.

The five routes
| Route | Example | Finds shows | Writes pitch | Answers host | Price |

Route 1: PodcastPlacer
Input is one URL: the guest’s LinkedIn page or, for a company, its site. The agent reads it, lists comparable guests, then searches 3.4 million podcasts, each stored with a contact email, for shows in those clusters. Inactive shows are dropped. The agent then writes a pitch per show in five parts: a greeting, two sentences on the show and the guest, two or three episode ideas, one line on what the guest brings, and a short question. The guest sees three sample pitches before sending starts.
When a host replies, the agent sends the bio, topic list or open slots the host asks for, drawing on facts the user stored, and confirms a date. Questions outside those stored facts go to the user.

Routes 2 to 5
- Agency: a person does every step, billed monthly against a fixed number of bookings, with a $150 one-sheet at Podcast Bookers and ExpertBookers.
- PodMatch: matches guests and hosts who list profiles on the platform; the guest sends every message.
- Podseeker: a database and pitch tool for PR teams; Podseeker reports a 3.3% pitch-to-booking rate across 5,012 pitches sent through it between February and June 2026, so a team writes roughly 30 pitches per booking.
- PodcastGuests.com: a free weekly list of shows that want guests; each pitch is written by hand.
Cost of the first 100 pitches
At PodcastPlacer the first 100 pitches are covered by the $20 in free credits a new account receives. Pitch 101 onward costs $0.20 each, under a daily budget the user sets.
